Anadis Ltd. (ASX:ANX; OTC:ANDIY) an Australian biopharmaceutical company has been awarded a product development grant for its Cancer-related Alimentary Mucositis project. The award was one of only three made by the VISTECH bi-national fund, following a competitive process, which included a thorough scientific assessment. The fund was established by the Government of Victoria (Australia) and the Government of Israel through the Office of the Chief Scientist in its Ministry of Industry Trade and Labor. The intended product for the oncology market will leverage a special formulation of Anadis' immune milk-derived anti LPS antibodies, growth factors and other bioactives delivered using Anadis’ oral delivery technology.

A review published in The Lancet Oncology finds that although users of smokeless tobacco products (STPs) likely have a lower cancer risk than smokers, they are still increasing their risk of developing several types of cancer. In the USA and Sweden, a finely cut or powered, flavored tobacco called moist snuff is the most popular form of STP used. In places like India, there is a wide range of products that are regularly consumed.

Women over 90 are significantly more likely to have dementia than men of the same age, according UC Irvine researchers involved with the 90+ Study, one of the nation's largest studies of dementia and other health factors in the fastest-growing age demographic. The researchers reviewed an analysis of 911 people enrolled in the 90+ Study. Of those, 45 percent of the women had dementia, as opposed to 28 percent of the men.

Now a new study of 1,000 workers in Europe found that stressful jobs accounted for 45 per cent of new cases of depression. The factors which the scientists isolated as being especially important were excessive demands on the job and extreme time pressures. Not only did they find that these workers, with an average age of 32, were experiencing a high percentage of job-related stress-induced depression , but there appeared to be a 40 percent increase in reports from workers of job stress.
